Paul McBeth Wins Disc Golf’s Monster Energy Challenge

Last weekend near Salt Lake City, Utah, over August 25-26, the 2012 PDGA World Champion, Paul McBeth of Palm Harbor, Florida captured yet another victory in Disc Golf’s Monster Energy Challenge at Solitude Mountain Resort. The PDGA sanctioned A-tier event was held in this beautiful mountain setting with breathtaking views and 103 disc golfers who came out to compete.

In the Men’s Open division, McBeth took first place with a final score of 19-under par. In addition to his World’s victory, McBeth was the winner of the Memorial Championship and the ‘Steady’ Ed Memorial Masters, in addition to quite a few other wins this year. He was followed at second place by Cory Sharp of West Jordan, Utah, scoring 16-under par, and at third place was Cary Trotter of Las Vegas, Nevada with a final score of 3-under par.

Jere Eshelman of Penn Valley, California and Sonny Ashby of Juneau, Alaska came in at a tie for fourth place, both scoring at 2-over par.
Kristara Lee of Carbondale, Colorado came in at second place with a final score of 53-over par.

Mike Loya of Grass Valley, California was the winner in the Masters division scoring 5-under par, with Tom Carillo capturing second place scoring 1-over par.

In the Grandmasters division, Martin Bohn or Heber City, Utah, won with a final score of 17-over par, while the Advanced division win went to Josh Guhl of Fort Collins, Colorado scoring 17-over par and Karen Anderson of Taylorsville, Utah won the division for the women with a final score of 39-over par.

Other winners included Brian Usher and Trevor Butler, both of Salt Lake City, and Amy Summers of Layton, Utah.
