Just in time for your New Years Resolutions I have a great post from my friend, The Wellness Chick: 27 Ways to Be More Physically Active

Whether you are out of shape, overweight or just looking to maintain your current physical fitness level, it helps to stay active every day for at least 30 minutes. Some people use the excuse of being too busy or just not having the time to get their exercise in. But the truth of the matter is they are all excuses. We have the choice every day to make time for more physical activity. Rushing through life and neglecting your health and fitness actually shortens your lifespan, giving you less time to enjoy life.

Being more physically active is not as hard as you might think and there are many effective, easy ways to work it into your daily routine.

Some tips from The Wellness Chick on how to do this:

  • Make video gaming an active hobby.  Games such as Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution require you to move in order to accomplish certain feats or tasks.
  • Explore the outdoors often.  Make trail walking or hiking a regular habit; consider camping out if weather permits.
  • Spend Friday nights dancing, not boozing.  Instead of drinking to excess at your favorite bar, consider going to a club or dance hall, where you can dance and stay more physically active.
  • Join a community sports league.  Joining a local basketball and baseball group is a great way to make physical activity a priority.
