Bradley Williams Wins Disc Golf’s Turtle Rock Pro/Am

Over this past weekend of June 2-3, 2012 in Markleville, California, the Sierra Tahoe Series #3, or Turtle Rock Pro/Am took place at the Turtle Rock Park Disc Golf Course. With 91 disc golfers comping out to compete in this PDGA sanctioned B-tier event, it was Bradley Williams of Austin, Texas who was crowned champion with a final score of 21-under par.

Williams has already won a number of events this year, including the Nacogdoches Open and the Victoria Open. He was followed by Bring the Heat Cali Style winner Jere Eshelman of Penn Valley, California at second place scoring  17-under par, while Ryan Bertoncini came in at third place at just a stroke behind with a final score of 16-under par.

Nick Long of South Lake Tahoe, California captured fourth place scoring 9-under par and in a tie at fifth place was Derek Sonderfan of Reno, Nevada and Chris Robbins of South Lake Tahoe, both scoring 6-under par. Brian Costa of Grass Valley, California followed in seventh place with a final score of 5-under par while Joe Akhavan of Truckee, California and Joe Forrest of Kirkwood, California finished in a tie at eighth place, both scoring 4-under par.

Vanessa Van de Venter won the women’s open division with a final score of 23-over par while Antra de Bourbon of Aptos, California took second place scoring 32-over par and Leah Feltenstein captured third place with a final score of 36-over par.

Mike Loya of Grass Valley, California dominated the masters division with a final score of 13-under par while second place finisher Jason Baehr, also of Grass Valley, scored at even par.

The grandmasters division went to Doug Werner of Fremont, California scoring 1-over par and Matt House of Grass Valley won the advanced division with a final score of 7-under par. Scoring at even par to win the advanced masters division was Edward Poyner of Reno, Nevada and Brian Nightingdale of Placerville, California captured the victory in the intermediate division with a final score of 2-over par. Mindy Carbajal won the division for the women scoring 52-over par.

Finally, Sergio Castaneda won the recreational division with a final score of 20-over par and Maximus Meyer of Sparks, Nevada won the under 13 boys division scoring 80-over par.
