Brian Schweberger Crowned Champion at Disc Golf’s 10th Annual Coastal Plains Summer Open

The 10th Annual Coastal Plains Summer Open took place in Jacksonville and Richlands, North Carolina at both the Northeast Creek Park  and Steed Park Disc Golf Courses over the weekend of July 7-8, 2012. With 63 disc golfers coming out to compete in this PDGA sanctioned B-tier event, it was Tarboro, North Carolina’s Brian Schweberger who captured yet another victory with an impressive final score of 51-under par.

Schweberger won the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce Disc Golf Open last month and just a few of his other victories include the Bayville Spring Pro/Am Ace Run Shootout, the Ace Run Shootout and the Loriella Challenge. He was followed by another frequent winner, Terry Gallops of Raleigh, North Carolina with a final score of 34-under par.  Gallops won the Big Valley Challenge in May, and in 2011 he had numerous victories, including the Forest Hills Open and the Border Battle, as well as the North Carolina Flying Disc Championships.

Jason Clark of Jacksonville, North Carolina captured third place scoring 19-under par while Walton Satcher of North Topsail Beach, North Carolina followed at just a stroke behind to take fourth place and David Tucker of Charlotte, North Carolina took fifth place scoring 5-over par.

The masters division win went to Chris Lee of Raleigh, North Carolina scoring 23-under par while  Eric Vandenberg of Durham, North Carolina followed at second place with a final score of 21-under par. Shea Davis captured the victory in the advanced division scoring 9-under par while William Davidson of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina took second place in the division scoring at even par. Suzanne Smith of Wendell, North Carolina won the women’s advanced division with a final score of 43-over par.

Adam Baker of Washington, North Carolina won the intermediate division scoring 12-under par with Matt Hagerty followed at just a stroke behind with a final score of 11-under par to take second place. Felicia Vallee of New Bern, North Carolina won the women’s intermediate division scoring 53-over par.

Finally, Charlie Johnson of Southport, North Carolina and Kierra Kuvaja of Havelock, North Carolina won the recreational division, while Sean Kelly of Jacksonville won the junior under 10 boys division.
