Cancer Patient Has Zorbing Wish Granted: Would You Try This?

Canadian teenager Austin Bilodeau had a fantastic week in Rotorua. The 16-year-old cancer patient has one wish- to go zorbing in New Zealand. Austin would get his wish thanks to Make A Wish British Columbia and Yukon Canada, with help from Make A Wish New Zealand and Zorb New Zealand. The self confessed adrenaline junkie had the chance to zoom down a hill in a zorb in New Zealand and it’s likely an experience he will never forget.

Austin says, “It was something so weird but it looked like it would be a lot of fun … My friends ask me ‘what’s a zorb?’, I say it’s a big hamster ball that you get pushed down a hill in.”

This was an important experience for the young man. Austin also said that his cancer (now in remission) had changed him. The teen said, “It makes you look at the good things rather than the negative.”

This is a lesson that we can all learn from Austin and you don’t have to have a serious illness to try to follow your dreams. If you never thought of zorbing before but you love adventure sports or just trying new things, then it’s something to consider. I would love to have the opportunity to try this interesting sport, even just once.
