Chris Eads Wins Disc Golf’s Vintage Open in Russellville, Arkansas

The 2nd Annual Vintage Open was held in Russellville, Arkansas at both the Pleasant View Disc Golf Course and the Old Post Disc Golf Course. This was a PDGA sanctioned C-tier event with 45 disc golfers coming out to compete, and it was Chris Eads of Fort Smith, Arkansas who emerged the winner of the open division in this tight race at just a stroke ahead of the second place finisher, Chris Shelton, with a final score of 8-under par.

In 2011, Eads had a victory at the War on the Shore and the Little Big Open.  Shelton is from Alma, Arkansas and was the winner of the Mighty Shunga Open, the Little Big Show and the Dynamic Discs Open, all competing in the advanced division. Matt Wright of Springdale, Arkansas and Adam Hunt of Tulsa, Oklahoma followed in a tie for third place, both scoring 3-under par.

The advanced division win went to Matthew Loyd scoring at even par while Brad Rush of Joplin, Missouri captured second place at just a stroke behind with a final score of 1-over par. Following in third place was Matt Scott scoring 3-over par while T.J. Hahn finished in fourth place scoring 5-over par. Scoring 7-over par, was Gary Collins who took fifth place.

Derek Smittle was the intermediate division winner, coming in with a final score of 8-over par, while Mark Lykins followed in second place at just a stroke behind with a final score of 9-over par. Matthew Cook won the recreational division scoring 10-over par and it was Michael Gray, Harvey Wilson and Chris Staten who followed in a three-way tie for second place, all finishing with a final score of 13-over par.

Finally, the under 16 boys division winner was Dylan Caldwell and Caleb Palfreeman won the under 10 boys division.
