The Madisonville Open was held this weekend from Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8 at the Madisonville City Park Disc Golf Course in Madisonville, Kentucky. This PDGA sanctioned A-tier event was presented by Blue Grass Disc Golf, and with 73 disc golfers taking part in the competition it was Portland, Oregon’s Dave Feldberg who was crowned champion in the men’s open division with a final score of 62-under par.
Feldberg has had a number of victories already this year, including the Kansas City Wide Open, the Copenhagen Open and the Charlie Vettiner Open. He was followed by the 2011 PDGA Rookie of the Year, Ricky Wysocki of Fort Mill, South Carolina at just a stroke behind scoring 61-under par while Tyler Horne of Columbus, Ohio captured third place with a final score of 54-under par. Paul Ulibarri of Phoenix, Arizona took fourth place scoring 52-under par and it was Paul Oman of Evansville, Indiana who finished in fifth place with a final score of 50-under par.
The 2011 PDGA Female Rookie of the Year, Catrina Allen of Phoenix, Arizona was crowned champion in the women’s open division with a final score of 24-under par. Allen has had a banner year as well, winning the recent Beaver State Fling, the St. Louis Open and the Glass Blown Open in addition to quite a few other victories.
Roger Cansler of Santa Rosa, California won the masters division with a final score of 26-under par and it was Dean Tannock of Toney, Alabama who captured the victory in the grandmasters division scoring 27-under par.
The advanced division win went to Jeremy Smith of Owensboro, Kentucky in overtime after both he and David Grinnell, also of Owensboro, finished in a tie with both scoring 37-under par. David Andress of Bowling Green, Kentucky won the advanced masters divison with a final score of 4-under par and Riley Turner was the winner in the advanced grandmasters division scoring 8-under par.
Finally, other winners included Josh Pemberton of Lynnville, Indiana, Bob Walker of Island, Kentucky, Christine Coronel of Murfreesboro Tennesse, and local Brad Puckett.
