Disc Golf’s Eric C Yetter Champions’ Cup Coming to Newtown, Pennsylvania this Weekend

The Eric C. Yetter Champions Cup  is one of the biggest events in disc golf over the next several weeks, with 118 disc golfers registered to compete in this PDGA sanctioned A-tier tournament. Held at Tyler State Park in Newtown, Pennsylvania just 40 minutes north of Philadelphia, the park is home to a 27-hole course that is one of the best in Pennsylvania.

Last year’s winner in the Men’s Open division was Jeremy Koling from Charlotte, North Carolina, with Warwick, New York’s Steve Brinster coming in at second place. He could come through and take it this year, and it doesn’t appear that Koling will be there to defend his title. Of course there are several other big namea who will be in Newtown for the competition this weekend, include the 2008 PDGA World Champion, Dave Feldberg, the 2011 PDGA Rookie of the Year Ricky Wysocki and many other outstanding players.

Any way you look at it, this should be a great battle.

In the Women’s Open division, the 2011 PDGA Female Rookie of the Year Catrina Allen will be competing to defend her title, winning last year’s event, and she’s got a great chance of winning on the Tyler State Park course again in 2012. With lots of elevation changes, tightly wooded areas and even water coming into play, this should be a challenging event, and an exciting one for spectators to watch.

All Players will tee off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, and Sunday, September 9 for a total of 67 “holes of fun,” including two rounds of 20 on Saturday and one round of 27 on Sunday.

There is a lot of cash up for grabs at this one, and those in the area who have an interest in disc golf should come check out the Eric C. Yetters Champion Cup as some of the best in disc golf showcase their amazing skills.
