Kyle Crabtree Wins Disc Golf’s Battle at Seattle 2.0

The Battle at Seattle 2.0 was a Chainbangerz event that was held at the Seatac Disc Golf Course this past weekend of June 9-10, 2012 in Seatac, Washington. With 120 disc golfers coming out to compete in this PDGA sanctioned B-tier tournament, it was two-time USDGC putting champion, Kyle Crabtree from Fife, Washington who was crowned champion with an impressive final score of 21-under par.

Crabtree is the top rated player in Washington state in addition to achieving a number of other accolades over the years. He shot a hot second round of 41 at The Battle of Seattle, with the next best score going to Lou Tran of Puyallup, Washington shooting a 45, also in the second round.

Crabtree has had several victories in 2012, including the Windy River Open, St. Patty’s Day Massacre and the Chainbanger Club Member Drive. He was followed at second place by Dana Vicich of Ottawa, Illinois scoring 13-under par while Chandler Fry of Olympia, Washington captured third place with a final score of 11-under par and Brian Cook of Richland, Washington came in at fourth place scoring 8-under par. Scoring 6-under par was Lou Tran of Puyallup to finish in fifth place.

Sheila Teves of Seattle, Washington was crowned champion in the women’s open division with a final score of 31-over par.

The masters division victory went to Ming Vang of Auburn, Washington scoring 1-under par while Mike Werth of Graham, Washington followed at second place scoring at even par. Kurt Bayne of Salem, Oregon dominated the grandmasters division with a final score of 1-under par, nine strokes ahead of second place finisher Gordy Kirkpatrick of Shoreline, Washington who scored 8-over par to take second place.

The advanced division win went top Nick Wood of Auburn, Washington who battled it out to the finish in overtime with Jason Carr of Puyallup, Washington, and it was Tanya Spence of of Seattle won the division for the women.

Erick Illg of Carnation, Washington captured the win in the advanced masters division while Nick Boardman from Vashon Island, Washington won the intermediate division. Finally, it was Jordan Erickson who was the winner in the under 13 boys divsion.
