Roger Clemens Comes Out Of Retirement?

What is Roger Clemens trying to accomplish by pitching for the Sugarland Skeeters? He may be trying to make a Major League roster, but I doubt it. The rumors of him signing with the Houston Astros again would be an interesting proposition. Clemens may be fifty one and decide to pitch in the majors again.
The Houston Astros certainly would like to be able to sell some tickets if Clemens did come back, many folks may consider it to be a bit of a side show if Clemens did come back to pitch for Houston. Many people out there probably view Clemens out there as a liar due to the testimony that he gave to Congress, but the truth of the matter may be that Clemens was just another face in a bad era for baseball. The worst thing that the steroid era did for baseball is that it put everything into question going forward; many analysts will now question great players like Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard.

Clemens may have just decided that he would pitch for the Skeeters in order to delay any decision that has to be made regarding his resume and the Baseball Hall of Fame. Clemens may be watching what has happened to Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa within the media and be worried about his own Hall of Fame prospects. Clemens probably thinks that delaying the debate over the matter will give him time to heal some of the wounds.

The man has gotten some bad press in his personal life as well. The truth of the matter is that he should not have to worry about getting into the Hall of Fame, but he ended up getting himself tangled up in a debate over whether or not he was actually at a pool party at Jose Canseco’s house.

Roger Clemens is quite proud of being from Texas so he probably wanted to get some more press for the Skeeters. Many of the young players who toil through minor league baseball probably don’t get to have a thrill by playing with Roger Clemens many times in their career. Many Clemens supporters are certainly hoping that Brian McNamee’s story and credibility falls apart and thus the voters for the Hall of Fame are not going to criticize Clemens all that much. A lot of baseball observers still feel like they have to gather the facts about Clemens’ situation.
