Book Your Lodging in Advance

Planning a skiing trip to the Rockies starts with choosing where you’ll stay. You have many options but choosing the right lodging will greatly enhance your trip. If you’re going for a weekend getaway, you may want to stay at a ski resort where you can hit the slopes right away.

However, if you’re planning to stay for a week or longer, you may be more comfortable staying in one of the ski apartments or Colorado ski chalets. Apartments and chalets can make your stay more enjoyable because they have all the comforts of home. They’re the perfect choice for families and groups.

Reserve Your Equipment and Lift Tickets Online

If you plan to rent your equipment, this is something that you can do in advance by reserving your equipment online. It will save you a lot of trouble when you get to your destination by ensuring you have equipment waiting for you when you arrive.

By getting your lift tickets online, you can save money. You’re going to need them anyway so you might as well get them in advance and you won’t have to pay the higher prices at the resort. You can get multi-day tickets but if you plan on doing a lot of skiing or if staying for an extended amount of time, you may want to buy a season pass.

Take Steps to Avoid High Altitude Sickness

Some people are sensitive to high altitudes and suffer from high altitude sickness. They get flu-like symptoms that make you feel sick to your stomach, tired and short of breath. Here are a few things that you can do to help avoid or at least reduce your risk of getting sick from the higher altitude.

Avoid dehydration by drinking extra water and staying away from or by limiting your alcohol and caffeine intake. It’s a good idea to start this a few days before you head out for your trip. If that’s not possible, you can schedule in a lesson for when you reach your resort. It’s also a good idea to take part in a ski fitness program that teaches balance board exercises and stability. It will help your performance when skiing considerably.
