Steve Miller Crowned Champion at Disc Golf’s Bayville Bash VIII in Virginia

The Bayville Bash VIII took place in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Bayville Disc Golf Course on June 23-24, 2012. With 75 disc golfers coming out to compete in this PDGA sanctioned B-tier event, it was the Steve Miller of Falmouth, Virginia who emerged the winner of this tight race with a final score of 21-under par. Miller was the winner of last year’s Bayville Spring Pro/Am as well as the Ace Run Shootout.

Following at just a stroke behind to capture second place, was Brian Schweberger of Tarboro, North Carolina scoring 20-under par. He’s already captured quite a few victories in 2012, including the Bayville Spring Pro/Am Ace Run Shootout, the Ace Run Shootout and the Loriella Challenge. At third place with a final score of 13-under par, was last weekend’s winner of the Mid Delmarva Summer Classic, Kevin Gleason of the Essential Discs team, from Salisbury, Maryland.

The masters division win went to Chris Lee of Raleigh, North Carolina with a final score of 12-under par, while Chris Mangus of Belding, Michigan followed at just a stroke behind to take second place scoring 11-under par.

Austin Pfaff of Fredericksburg, Virginia won the advanced division with a final score of 1-over par, and it was Sam Hendley of Durham, North Carolina in second place scoring 2-over par. Joy Callan of Portsmouth, Virginia won the advanced division for the women scoring 24-over par while Jen Devries of Newport News, Virginia scored 25-over par to capture second place.

Scoring 10-over par to win the advanced masters division was Paul Vaccaro, while Wes Ward of Norfolk, Virginia was the winner of the advanced grandmasters division with a final score of 27-over par and Peggy Steele of Wachapreague, Virginia won the advanced grandmasters division for the women scoring 80-over par.

The intermediate division victory went to John Newton of Newport News, Virginia with a final score of 6-under par and Erin Prescott took the win for the women in the division scoring 16-over par.

Finally, Heath Losick of Virginia Beach, Virginia won the recreational division with a final score of 5-under par and local Evan Washburn was the winner of the junior under 16 boys division scoring 16-under par.
